What is Staphylococcus Epidermidis? Staphylococcus Epidermidis is generally present on human skin. The bacteria is opportunistic and becomes a harmful pathogens when it gets past the body's defenses. In a favorable environment, Staphylococcus Epidermidis will tend to create a biofilm, which is particularly resistant to traditional antibiotics.

What is Candida albicans? Candida Albicans is a pathogenic yeast that is generally found in human gut flora. It also has the potential to survive outside the human body. Its presence is detectable in between 40%-60% of the gastrointestinal tract. People with healthy immune systems will generally be able to hold a certain level of Candida Albicans in check. However, when one becomes immune-compromised (through disease, trauma, stress, etc.), the Candida Albicans can begin to overwhelm the immune system and replicate to dangerous levels. Like Staphylococcus Epidermidis, Candida Albicans will also tend to create biofilms at the point of infection, which can be difficult to treat.
